Science says this is how often you should be getting it on
It's less than we thought!
If you're in a new relationship or have been together with your boyfriend/girlfriend for a long time, you've probably asked yourself before how often you should be knocking boots. Luckily for you (if you actually ask that question that is), some research has been done and published in Archives of Sexual Behavior.
The research found that American couples were getting it on nine fewer times between 2010 and 2014 in comparison to 2000 to 2004. Married couples saw an even sharper decline, having sex 16 fewer times a year.
Researchers speculate this is due to people being busy at work, looking after their children and the fact we are turning to Netflix more often. So, now we know this, how often should couples be hooking up to keep the passion alive?
Amy Muise, assistant professor of psychology at York University in Canada told TIME the magic number is one – once a week that is! She also adds that couples who do it more than once a week aren't any happier than those who have sex once a week. “Sex is associated with feeling more satisfied in a relationship," she told the publication.
So there you have it, if you and your partner have been neglecting each other in the bedroom, it doesn't take much to fix the situation and rekindle that spark!
