Meghan Markle’s about to face a huge royal test
Princess Diana also faced the Balmoral 'test'.
Meghan’s been there once previously when she first met the Queen, however, it’ll be her first as a royal with a royal expert suggesting it’s part of her “initiation”.
Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express in London:
“An invitation to Balmoral, where the Queen is expected to remain until September, is traditionally part of the initiation into the Royal family.”
The royal commentator suggested a stay at Balmoral was first used as an initiation of Prince Harry’s mother (and fellow non-royal), Princess Diana, who was introduced there in the early ‘80s.
“The Balmoral ‘test’ was initially passed by Diana who was later unhappy and bored there.”
Balmoral is reportedly a very special place to Prince Harry and William as they stayed there in the direct aftermath of Princess Diana’s death.
Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and his two daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will also be there.
The Queen reportedly takes an active role in hosting her family and even hides small gifts for them.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate, has rarely been seen in public other than attending Meghan and Harry’s wedding. She was reportedly expected at the wedding Harry and Meghan attended over the weekend, but it’s unknown if she and William attended but kept out of sight.
