Masterchef accused of discrimination after this contestant got the chop

1 min read

A much-loved contestant on Masterchef was eliminated yesterday - and fans are crying discrimination.

57-year-old Benita Orwell auditioned for the show multiple times before making the cut - but her sudden axing from the competition has drawn attention to the fact that older competitors rarely last long on the show.

Benita was cut from the show after burning the broth of a complicated wonton dish, leading judge Matt Preston to declare:

“Four dishes today showed beautiful flavour and great technique... but one cook took their eye off the ball, albeit for a moment.”

Earlier this week, 49-year-old Pia Gava was eliminated, making Ray Silva, 42, the oldest remaining contestant.

Do you think the show is biased?
