Kim Kardashian tearfully breaks silence on last year's events
She spoke about Paris robbery, Kanye's mental health in first KUWTK footage for months
When Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel last October, her world fell apart. She abandoned her 90 million-strong social media empire, her and husband Kanye West took the rest of the year off, and – understandably – filming of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was suspended indefinitely.
It's been almost four months since KUWTK fans have gotten their reality TV fix and, although Kimmy K broke the internet last week with her first Instagram posts since last year's events, it was unclear when new episodes were forthcoming. People speculated whether or not the family would continue to film KUWTK at all.
Last Friday, E! released a teaser trailer for new Keeping Up with the Kardashians footage, answering all of our questions regarding the future of the show. And like any true teaser should do, it teased the hell out of all of us.
The clip was brief – just 30 seconds long – but it was an aptly dramatic homage to everything that's happened since the show last aired.
In the clip, Kim Kardashian is shown, distraught and bare-faced, describing the horrific robbery to sisters Khloe and Kourtney.
"They're going to shoot me in the back. There's no way out," she confesses, in tears.
Kim – now a mother of two – is also shown talking briefly about husband Kanye West's mental health.
ICYMI, West suffered a severe mental health-related breakdown in November, and was hospitalised for several weeks.
In the E! teaser, Kim is visibly distressed as she tells her family:
"I think he really needs me. I have to get home."
This newly-released footage is bittersweet news for Keeping Up with the Kardashians fans. While it's great news that the show will be making a return, it's going to be hard to recapture the light-hearted reality TV tone in light of dark recent events.
