Add this spot to your Aussie travel bucket list now

This swing is only one plane ride and one ferry away.

Nope, this isn't Thailand, although it looks darn well like it. It’s Fitzroy Island, one of Australia’s 8,022 islands (who knew?), and only a short, affordable 45-minute ferry ride from Cairns.

Like many destinations in Queensland, the area offers every water sport under the sun - paddleboading, kayaking, snorkeling, glass bottom boat touring – but unlike other spots, Fitzroy Island has a… trampoline in the ocean. Yep.

The 'local’s secret' island is covered is tropical rainforest and situated on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. There are mangroves, open woodland, tropical rainforests and beautiful beaches all easily accessible by walking trails. The most popular walk is the Nudey Beach track which takes 45 minutes and winds through rainforest and woodlands to finish at an overlook of the beach.

And the swing - ah, the swing. It's by the Turtle Hospital, and worth the search because well, Instagram.
