The ONE joke comedian Ricky Gervais skipped at the Golden Globes
So Ricky Gervais DOES have a filter after all...
Ricky Gervais came under fire for “attacking” Caitlyn (former Bruce) Jenner at the Golden Globes when he made the very ~unfunny~ situation of her car crash last year the butt of one of his jokes. The UK funny man refused to apologise after the incident.
“You have every right to be offended. Just don't cry when no one cares,” he said.
But while we were all thinking “whew, that’s a bit harsh, Ricky” (just us?), it actually turns out the actor does have ~feelings~. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting a punchline for one of his jokes appeared on the teleprompter, but Ricky chose not to read it out loud.
The joke was targeted at Mel Gibson, whom Ricky has had some beef with in the past. Back in 2010, Ricky had poked fun at Mel’s drink driving charge when he introduced the actor at an awards show.
“I like a drink as much as the next man, unless the next man in Mel Gibson,” he said. And later on in the night, Ricky continued with the jabs – this time referencing Mel’s offensive comments about Jews.
Well, on Sunday night, the host had the ~unfortunate~ circumstance of having to introduce Mel again. (We're guessing the studio execs were looking for a good ol' fashioned, on stage *catfight*).
"I blame NBC for this terrible situation. We know who Mel blames," he started before skipping on to the next joke.
According to THR, the answer was "the Jews", but Ricky opted not to read it. Your move, Mel.
