"Bomb threat" earlier this evening at Leichhardt cinema

Cinema and surrounding area now reopened...

Around 300 people were evacuated from Palace Cinema in Sydney suburb Leichhardt shortly after 6:30pm, Daily Mail Australia is reporting. A NSW Police spokeswoman told the publication an “unattended item” was found inside and that an operation had taken place.

“We were walking in - didn't even see the ads... kids were watching Goosebumps. It was halfway through when ushers ran in shouting 'ladies and gentlemen we are evacuating - you all need to get out,” a witness told DMA.

The areas have now been reopened, but according to one Twitter user cops are "still poking around talking to people".
