Turns out that over-sleeping is shortening your life

Sleep

Well, this has officially scared us.

There are two unexpected things that may be cutting your life short. One is your bed and the second one is your chair.

In a study conducted by the University of Sydney investigators examined the lifestyle patterns of participants in order to determine the behaviours that are contributing to premature deaths.

Besides the obvious behaviours such as smoking, high alcohol intake and poor diet there was one really surprising factor.

Published in the journal of PLOS Medicine the study revealed:

“A person who oversleeps (more than nine hours a night), over-sits (more than seven hours a day) and under-exercises (less than 150 minutes each week) is more than four times as likely to die early compared to someone who doesn’t practice these habits.”

“Evidence has increased in recent years tot show that too much sitting is bad for you and there is growing understanding about the impact of sleep on our health, but this is the first study to look at how those things might act together.”
