There's an incredible story behind this photo of a Brazilian man and a penguin
This is a fascinating tale about a man and his friendship with a penguin.
In 2011, Joao Pereira de Souza saved an oil-covered, starving penguin off the beach. The Brazilian fisherman nursed the penguin back to health and tried to release him back into the wild. But the penguin, named Dindim, refused to leave him. The now-71-year-old told Brazilian network TV Globo:
"He stayed with me for 11 months and then, just after he changed his coat with new feathers, he disappeared."
But little did de Souza know, that was just the beginning of their now five-year relationship.
Every year for the past five years in a row, the penguin has travelled 8,000kms to return to his carer for about four months before leaving.
"He arrives in June and leaves to go home in February, and every year he becomes more affectionate, as he appears even happier to see me."
